CHEVROLET DETROIT BELLE ISLE GRAND PRIX ANNOUNCES CANADIAN TICKET PACKAGE AND RENEWED PARTNERSHIP WITH THE CITY OF WINDSOR

DETROIT, Mich. (April 23, 2015) – Building on a strong bond with its neighbors across the Detroit River, the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix today announced a renewed partnership with the City of Windsor, Ontario in Canada. The 2015 partnership marks the sixth year that the Grand Prix will work with the City of Windsor and it will once again provide an effective way for Canadian fans to easily and safely cross over into Detroit and experience all the excitement of this world-class racing event. Fans will witness thrilling action on and off the track at the Grand Prix, May 29-31 at Belle Isle Park, and get a chance to sit together in a special Canadian section at the race.

Through the exclusive partnership, fans from Canada will have the opportunity to purchase transportation with their Grand Prix tickets through the City of Windsor.

Reserved in the Canadian section of Grandstand 1, the special ticket package for Canadian fans will deliver a view of the front stretch and the start/finish line on the Raceway at Belle Isle Park road course, while overlooking all of the action on pit lane. A round-trip ticket to and from Belle Isle via a Transit Windsor bus is also included, as fans will have access to the numerous activities including the Meijer Fan Zone and the MotorCity Casino Hotel Entertainment Stage where national and local music acts will perform throughout the weekend. Single-day tickets will start at $60 CAD per person (HST included) for the lower rows of the grandstands and $80 CAD per person (HST included) for the upper rows.

“We are proud to continue this long-term partnership with the City of Windsor and provide a great way for Canadian fans to enjoy the Grand Prix,” said Bud Denker, Chairman of the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix. “We truly have an international event here on Belle Isle, perfectly positioned on two beautiful waterfronts in Detroit and Windsor and we are excited to celebrate the start of summer at the Grand Prix again this year with our Canadian fans.”

Fans can visit www.citywindsor.ca for more information on the Grand Prix tickets and travel packages. To order tickets, fans in Windsor can call 3-1-1 and provide credit card information by phone or submit a request online at www.311online.ca. Fans can also visit the Windsor International Transit Terminal and five select Customer Care Centres throughout Windsor to purchase the Canadian Grandstand ticket packages. Cash, debit cards, Visa and MasterCard are all accepted to purchase the Canadian Grandstand package. Canadian fans who have already bought tickets to the Grand Prix can also purchase the roundtrip transportation package separately at just $12 CAD per person.

“The City of Windsor is proud to support the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix again this year,” said Mayor Drew Dilkens. “By calling 3-1-1 Canadian race fans are able purchase tickets at a significant savings, and then thanks to our friends at Transit Windsor, enjoy reliable transportation to world-class auto racing this May 30th and 31st.”

The City of Windsor will also return as the sponsor for the official event media center on Belle Isle Park. Over 700 media members from across the world were credentialed for the Grand Prix last year and that number is expected to grow in 2015. The historic Belle Isle Casino will provide a working home for many members of the press covering the event at the City of Windsor International Media Center. The working journalists at the media center will have access to facilities and services that will be jointly staffed by members from Detroit Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau as well as those from Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island, showcasing the unique “two-nation destination” of the Detroit/Windsor area.

COLLEGE FOR CREATIVE STUDIES STUDENT SELECTED TO CREATE OFFICIAL 2015 CHEVROLET DETROIT BELLE ISLE GRAND PRIX COMMEMORATIVE POSTER

DETROIT, Mich. (April 17, 2015) – For the third consecutive year, the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix teamed up with one of Detroit’s most innovative institutions to create the event’s official commemorative poster.

Located in Midtown Detroit, the College for Creative Studies (CCS) partnered once again with the Grand Prix this year to host a competition among its design students to produce winning poster design.

Future leaders in the design and illustration industry are educated at CCS and the Grand Prix has enjoyed working with the Detroit-based college since 2013 to give its students the opportunity to create the signature piece of art associated with the annual racing event on Belle Isle.

On Thursday, April 16, the top five design entries, chosen by the CCS faculty, went through the final judging process and a winner and second- and third-place finishers were selected. Mary McLain, a 22-year-old design student from Livonia, Mich., was chosen as the winner of the poster competition with a memorable creation that incorporates the elements of nature at Belle Isle Park, blended with the Detroit city skyline and a father and son watching race cars zoom around the iconic Scott Fountain on the island.

Belle Isle 2015

“It was a really tough decision for the judges this year as all the designs were unique and strong in their own way,” said Bud Denker, Chairman of the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix, who has served on the judging panel in each of the last three years of the competition. “The level of talent and design skill is remarkable at CCS and all the students should be proud of the work they produced. At the finish line, Mary’s design just seemed to tell a perfect story of the experience at the Grand Prix and it was a unanimous choice as the winning entry.”

The winning design will help Detroit “Start the Summer” at the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix, May 29-31, as the official event poster will be produced, showcased and sold throughout the weeks leading up to the Grand Prix. The poster will be highlighted on race weekend and through the rest of the summer and the design may also be included on merchandise items moving forward.

“It’s really an honor to win this competition,” said McLain. “There were a lot of great entries and now I’m really excited to attend the Grand Prix and enjoy the experience on race weekend.”

The five-person panel that judged the top poster entries on Thursday included Denker, Chevrolet performance design styling director Todd Parker, WXYZ-TV Channel 7 sports anchor and reporter Brad Galli, Autoweek magazine creative director Ken Ross, and Ryan Ansel, a CCS instructor who leads the digital advertising curriculum at the school.

Finishing a close second in the competition was Esther Licata while third place went to Rachel Wujek. CCS students Laurel Tinklenberg and Kellye Perdue also produced strong top-five designs. The competing students were all part of the design class under instructor Francis Vallejo.
