Warm Weather & High Speeds Will Test Teams
Track time is valuable at every Verizon IndyCar Series event, but this could be an advantage for the Bowers & Wilkins team this weekend. As a rookie, Gabby Chaves will be allowed an extra hour of track time in a “rookies only” practice session on Friday morning. This could prove to be an advantage for the BHA team, allowing the team time to focus on a qualifying and race setup in separate sessions. Additionally, Chaves competed in the the 2013 Indy Lights race at Auto Club Speedway.
After strong performances on both ovals to date this season, Gabby Chaves and the BHA team are confident they can improve on their top finishes of the year this Saturday in the MAVTV500.
Gabby Chaves on the MAVTV500:
“I’m very excited for this weekend’s race. The Bowers & Wilkins car was very good at both Indy and Texas, I ran well here in Indy Lights, and we expect to be competitive here as well.”
“I suspect the difference between Lights and the Indycars here will be the number of lines the Indycars use. In Lights we were pretty much stuck to the bottom lane; Indycar will have guys on the bottom, middle, and high lanes. Also too, the length of the race. 500 miles in these temperatures will be a real test for everyone physically and the cars. However, I spent the past week training and I’m confident our BHA Honda will be reliable as always.”
