The fourth place finisher in the second Cooper Tires USF2000 powered by Mazda race, Victor Franzoni, was disqualified after his No. 17 Afterburner Autosport car was found to be in violation of Rule 14.1(a) which states:
All components provided by the Series, an authorized manufacturer or supplier must be used as provided unless otherwise stated in these rules or in update bulletins. For avoidance of doubt these rules currently provide for no modification of any component.
This is the third time in the last two years that an Afterburner Autosport car has been disqualified following post race tech. The first was at St. Petersburg in 2014 and the second came during Cooper Tires Winterfest at NOLA Motorsports Park in February of this year.
It’s unfortunate for the speedy Brazilain, Franzoni, who is an innocent victim, lost 19 points and falls from fourth to fifth in the championship standings. The disqualification at NOLA Motorsports Park was also costly, possibly costing him the Winterfest Championship.

John Cummiskey Racing rookie driver Anthony Martin took home the Tilton Hard Charger Award for gaining the most positions during the race. The Australian moved from his sixth starting spot to finish on the middle step of the podium. Martin also won the RePlay XD move of the race for his sixth lap pass of Victor Franzoni.
