Pocono Raceway Upgrades More Camping Spots with Power and Water to Start the 2019 Season

All Camping Locations Now Available for Purchase and Kids Camp for Free

LONG POND, Pa. (January 16, 2019) – Pocono Raceway announced today an upgrade to a popular camping area, now referred to as ‘50-Amp Family Grandstand Camping,’ to include electricity and water. These improvements were made one year after the Raceway added power and water hook ups to the Trackside and 50-Amp Infield Camping areas. All camping spots, including the new 50-Amp Family Grandstand Camping locations, are now available for purchase for the 2019 Pocono 400Gander Outdoors 400and ABC Supply 500 race weekends. As a reminder, kids camp for free at ‘The Tricky Triangle.’

The 50-Amp Family Grandstand Camping spots are located along the fence line on the backside of Turn 3 and adjacent to the Trackside Camping area along the fence line that borders Long Pond Road. These enhanced camping spots will include 50-Amp power hook up powered by the Raceway’s 25-acre, three-megawatt solar farm, water hook up, complimentary daily ice delivery, complimentary sewage service, voucher for a souvenir program with diecast car and two Pit/Paddock Passes.

“We are thrilled to be offering more upgraded camping locations for the 2019 season,” said Ben May, Pocono Raceway President. “As in 2018, our renewal guests were given the first opportunity to purchase these upgraded camping spots and the initial feedback has been very positive. The remaining spots are now available for purchase and, based on the success of improved Trackside and 50-Amp Infield Camping areas last year, we strongly believe they will sell out quickly.”

Camping guests attending Pocono Raceway’s NASCAR and INDYCAR race weekends receive several perks. Kids, ages 12 and under, can camp for the entire race weekend for free. Camping guests will also receive four-day access to the Raceway, starting on Thursday, free access to the Grandstand on Friday and Saturday, free access to the Bark (dog) Park and complimentary access to the #POCONOMTNS Inclusive Playground.

All Family Grandstand Camping guests, regardless of age and including children, are required to have a Sunday Grandstand ticket. All Sunday Grandstand tickets are reserved. Sunday tickets for kids, ages 12 and under, in the 100 and 200 Levels of the Grandstand can be selected or requested, free of charge, when purchasing online or over the phone.

Fundraising Ticket Program to Support Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department’s K-9 Unit

LONG POND, Pa. (January 9, 2019) – Pocono Raceway, in celebration the 25th anniversary of the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department (PMRPD), announced a unique ticket fundraising campaign today. Fifteen percent from each ticket sold, as part of this specific ticket program, will benefit the PMRPD Foundation in their support of the department’s K-9 Unit.

The PMRPD provides support and services to Pocono Raceway, Mount Pocono Borough and the Townships of Barrett, Coolbaugh, Tobyhanna and Tunkhannock. The PMRPD Foundation, established in 2010, funds specialty units including the SWAT and K-9 programs, community officer training, equipment and technology. The fundraising goal for this program has been set at $4,900.

“With the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department celebrating 25 years serving our community as a regionalized department,” said Chief of Police, Chris Wagner, “We’re honored to embrace this momentous occasion recognized as recipient of Pocono Raceway’s fundraising initiative. Kids, ages 12 and under, will receive free admission to 100 and 200 levels of the Grandstand, as well as Fan Fair, for all Friday, Saturday and Sunday events during NASCAR and INDYCAR event weekends. Children will also continue to be admitted free in all Pocono Raceway camping locations. Kids must have a reserved ticket on Sundays. Pocono Raceway Announces 2018 ABC Supply 500 Verizon IndyCar Series Weekend Dates
LONG POND, Pa. (September 28, 2017) – Pocono Raceway will host the 2018 ABC Supply 500 race weekend from August 18-19. It will mark the 25th INDYCAR race held ‘The Tricky Triangle’ and the sixth-consecutive year in which the Verizon IndyCar Series has competed there since 2013.

The 2017 ABC Supply 500 saw 42 lead changes and 590 on-track passes, 524 of which were for position. The race was won by Team Penske’s Will Power, who became the first driver to win back-to-back INDYCAR races at Pocono Raceway.

“The 2017 ABC Supply 500 proved why Pocono Raceway was built for INDYCAR racing,” said Pocono Raceway CEO Nick Igdalsky. “This summer’s race was one of the most competitive events in our track’s history. It was also the highest-attended INDYCAR race we hosted since bringing open-wheel racing back here five years ago. From conversations I have had about the 2018 body, we should see speeds pushing, if not exceeding, 240 miles per hour next year.”

Tickets for all 2018 events at Pocono Raceway are scheduled to go on sale to the public starting *Wednesday, October 4, 2017. Safety Enhancements Continue at Pocono Raceway

LONG POND, Pa. (April 4, 2017) – Pocono Raceway has added an additional 5,197 feet of Steel and Foam Energy Resistant (SAFER) barrier and is among the top three tracks in terms of length of the safety feature.

With a late start to winter, Pocono Raceway was able to cover the front stretch of the 2.5-mile raceway as well as areas between Turns 2 and 3.

In addition to the SAFER barrier walls, Pocono Raceway upgraded the three track crossover gates located around the track with new gates that incorporate SAFER into their construction.

Last year, Pocono Raceway lengthened the pit wall and installed more than 6,000 feet of SAFER barrier.

‘The Tricky Triangle,’ now has more than 23,640 feet of SAFER barrier walls installed which equates to 4.48 miles and trails just Daytona International Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway.

Pocono Raceway will host seven national motorsports events during the 2017 racing season, including a NASCAR XFINITY Series race on June 10. The Pocono 400 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) race is set for June 11, the Pennsylvania 400 MENCS race on July 30 and the ABC Supply 500 Verizon IndyCar Series race on August 20. The Pocono Mountains 150 NASCAR Camping World Truck race is scheduled for July 29 and two ARCA Series Presented by Menards races with General Tire #AnywhereIsPossible 200 on June 9 and the ARCA Racing Series 150 on July 28 offered as well.
