KVRT/KVSH Racing’s Iowa Race Report

SEBASTIEN BOURDAIS
NO. 11 TEAM MISTC E-CIGS – KVSH RACING CHEVROLET/DALLARA/FIRESTONE

Qualified: 24th DNQ (lightly hit wall in turn 2 on second qualifying lap)
Finished: 9th

“It was a really good effort from the Mistic E-Cigs Chevy team. We did everything we could hope for. I had a massive vibration on the second to last stint, so we came in on the early side of the window. I ran really hard laps on that set of tires to try and make up some ground, and we did getting up to sixth, but that last yellow really hurt us. Unfortunately, it gave some guys the opportunity to get a new set of tires and we couldn’t because we had used up so many tires early in the race. Then the restart was such a mess. We got bottled up by guys that were a lap down who were fighting like they were trying to win the race. That allowed all the guys that were at the back of the pack on new tires to come through. You have to feel good about going from 24th to ninth and the fact that over the last two races we have really improved the car and our performance on ovals, but to get up to sixth and end up ninth, that is always tough. But, with the debacle of qualifying, I guess we have to be pretty happy with tonight’s result.” .

“I thought it was going to be a good race. I had my best qualifying performance on an oval and the car felt good. Unfortunately at the beginning of the race I got hit by Charlie Kimball and then had to pit for a new rear wing and lost five laps. It felt pretty good off the truck and I thought, ‘This could be a pretty good weekend.’ And then we messed up qualifying. Never did I think we could come up through the field and pass everybody. It’s just unbelievable. It’s what these places do to you. When the car is right, it’s so, so special.”“It’s just awesome, especially here at Milwaukee because it’s such a historic place. It was one of my favorite tracks when I was racing here,” team co-owner Jimmy Vasser said. “In the fashion he did it … we put ourselves on a different strategy to be able to let him go when he could and then in the box saving fuel. SEBASTIEN BOURDAIS
NO.11 TEAM HYDROXYCUT – KVSH RACING CHEVROLET/DALLARA/FIRESTONE

ABC Supply Co. Inc. Wisconsin 250 – July 11-12, 2015
“Milwaukee is one oval that I am pretty familiar with. I raced there several times in Champ Car and had a couple of good results including a pole and a win in 2006. It is a different kind of oval because it doesn’t have the high banking like most of the ovals we race on, so it drives a little more like a road course. We have worked hard all year and have made progress with the setup up every oval race. Chevy has also given us good, reliable power and a strong aero package. There aren’t a lot of races left, so if we are going to have a chance to finish in the top-five in the championship the Hydroxycut – KVSH Racing team will have to have a good result in Milwaukee.”

Bourdais currently sits 7th in the championship standings with 290 points.
The 2015 ABC Supply Co. Inc. Wisconsin 250 will be Bourdais’ 143rd Verizon IndyCar Series start, 30th with KVSH Racing, 25th on an oval and seventh on the Milwaukee Mile (Champ Car, 4; IndyCar 1).

“I am very happy with my result today. It took a while to get comfortable with the car and we had to make some changes during our stops. SEBASTIEN BOURDAIS
NO. 11 MISTIC E-CIGS – KVSH RACING CHEVROLET/DALLARA/FIRESTONE

Started: 15th
Finished: 14th

“It was a very tough day for the Mistic KVSH Racing team. Every time we would begin to move up we started to have overheating issues, so I had to come into the pits a few times to clean the radiators. The guys pulled a tear off out once, but it kept happening. It was frustrating for sure, but the Mistic boys hung tough. Everybody gave their best and I was trying hard behind the wheel and making some moves. Then we would have to give it all up because we were running to hot and had to pit. We will look at it and try and find some solutions. Maybe some blocking or screens. In the end, we managed to salvage some points, so that is a good thing.”

NO. 4 KV RACING TECHNOLOGY CHEVROLET/DALLARA/FIRESTONE

Started: 20th
Finished: 23rd

“I struggled on the wet tires at the beginning, but then when we switched to the slick tires after 10 laps, the car was really good and really fast and I was able to make up positions and run as fast as the leaders. My crew did a great second pit stop and I rejoined 16th. At the restart I gained another position and got as high as 14th when I broke a tiny bit too late in turn 5 and hit the wall. That broke my suspension and unfortunately that was then it for me.”

NO. 11 TEAM HYDROXYCUT – KVSH RACING CHEVROLET/DALLARA/FIRESTONE

Started: 5th
Finished: 5th

“It was a solid day for the Hydroxycut KVSH Racing team. Obviously it felt like we deserved a better finish than fifth, but it is what it is. We did the best we could. We probably should have pitted at the beginning of the window the first time and then we didn’t want to expose ourselves to a yellow flag the second time, so we pitted early. Unfortunately, (Carlos) Munoz slowed us up and we destroy the tires being behind him. That was a shame, but we got a lot of valuable points and another top-five finish. Now we move on and try and get the oval season off on the right foot.”

I was running 10th in my group before I pitted for the alternate tires and was then unable to put a quick lap together because it went checkered. KVRT and KVSH Texas Race Reports

STEFANO COLETTI
NO. 4 KV RACING TECHNOLOGY
CHEVROLET/DALLARA/FIRESTONE

 Started: 23rd
Finished: 19th”I am really happy to finish the race. I was struggling for the first 150 laps and then I started to understand a little more about how the car reacts on ovals, how to take the line and where to apply the throttle in the corners. In the end, I started to have fun on the last 50 laps and even pass cars. We were going faster and faster as the race went on and I said I wasn’t confident at the start of the race but now I feel a bit more comfortable.”

  • Coletti made his second career oval start tonight
  • He finished a career oval best of 19th today (previous best was 25th at this years Indy 500)

SEBASTIEN BOURDAIS
NO. 11 TEAM HYDROXYCUT –  KVSH RACING CHEVROLET/DALLARA/FIRESTONE

Started: 18th
Finished: 14th“The Hydroxycut team definitely made progress since last year. The car was actually pretty good. I tried to drive it a little to free and killed the rear tires a couple of times. Then under a yellow, we decided to pit and it was too early, so we didn’t beat the pace car out and got penalized. I also made a mistake. I thought it was a drive through penalty and it was a stop and go, so I had to come back in and we went down another lap. Toward the last part of the race we showed we had a good car. The last two stints were strong, but to make up two laps… We got very little out of a pretty good race and a solid race car, but it is what it is, now it is on to the next one.”

Fast Facts:

    • Bourdais earned 16 points tonight and now sits seventh in the championship standings with 244points, 17 points from fifth.
    • He has earned five top-10 finishes with two top-five showings and one win, last weekend in Detroit Race 2.

KVRT and KVSH Racing Texas qualifying report

STEFANO COLETTI

NO. 4 KV RACING TECHNOLOGY CHEVROLET/DALLARA/FIRESTONE

Qualifying:
Lap 1: 212.383 mph / 24.6630 secs
Lap 2: 211.478 mph / 24.7685 secs
Average Speed: 211.930 mph
Qualified: 23rd

“It was the first time for me on a high banked oval. To be honest any ovals are new to me. Unfortunately in practice this morning we had a problem with the car, which mean’t I lost about 35 minutes of the session and on a track like this you need as much track time as possible especially when you only have one 75 minutes session before qualifying. It was my first time with a half way trim for qualifying as we didn’t have enough time to be fully trimmed out and it was ok, but we could have done more. We will work on our race setup this evening, it will be a little easier with cooler track temps and luckily oval races are long so it wont matter quite so much where we start.”

Commenting on his second oval experience and first at Texas:

“Indianapolis and Texas are completely different. Here it is pretty hard, almost like riding a roller coaster, it squishes you down like you were going up and down on a ride. It is a lot of fun to drive and to be honest the first time I got on track this morning, I thought ‘wow this is banked’ but I think by tomorrow I will be used to it.”

Fast facts:
* Coletti qualified for his second oval race in his racing career
* He made his oval debut at the Indianapolis 500 this year
* This is Coletti’s best oval start, his previous best was 30th at the Indianapolis 500.
* Coletti’s best road/street qualifying is eighth (Detroit Race 1) and his best finish is also eighth at the GP of Indy
* Coletti sits 20th in the championship standings with 75 points.

Qualifying:
Lap 1: 24.3140 secs
Lap 2: 24.3429 secs
Average Speed: 215.303
Qualified: 18th

“I think the Hydroxycut machine is a good race car. It’s just in qualifying trim we didn’t get it right. That is the problem with just one practice session before qualifying. We didn’t get a good read, so in qualifying the car was a bit too free and we didn’t take enough downforce out. It’s a shame. It is going to make our life a bit harder tomorrow starting 18th.”

Fast facts:
* The 2015 Firestone 500 will be Bourdais’ 140th Verizon IndyCar Series start, 23rd on an oval, 27th with KVSH Racing and third in an Indy car at Texas Motor Speedway.

* Bouradais will start in the top-10 for the eighth time in nine races this year (started sixth at NOLA and ninth at Detroit Race 2 when the field was gridded by points because qualifying rained out.).
* Bourdais has a best qualifying spot of sixth, (St. Petersburg and Detroit Race 1) this year.
* Bourdais has a best qualifying spot of 17th (started 15th) in three attempts at TMS. He has qualified 18th twice, in 2014 and this year.
* In two previous races at TMS, Bourdais has a best finish of 20th both times (2013 and 2014.

KVRT & KVSH Racing’s Texas Team Notes

STEFANO COLETTI
NO. 4 KV RACING TECHNOLOGY CHEVROLET/DALLARA/FIRESTONE

FIRESTONE 600 – JUNE 5-6, 2015

“I am looking forward to getting back to an oval. I had never been on one until Indianapolis a few weeks ago and after I had got used to it, I had a lot of fun. Texas will be different though with some big banking, so I will have a lot to learn. I will need to try and get as many laps in as I can and see how it goes, but I always like a challenge. After everything the people in Texas have gone through over the last few weeks, I hope we can put on a good show and that my thoughts are with those that have lost someone and/or their homes in these terrible times.”

Coletti sits 20th in the standings with 104 points.

  • The 2015 Firestone 600 will be Coletti’s second oval race. He made his oval career debut at this year’s Indianapolis 500.
  • This will be Coletti’s ninth Verizon IndyCar Series start, ninth with KV Racing Technology, second oval appearance and first at Texas Motor Speedway.
  • Coletti has an oval best finish of 25th and a best start of 30th.
  • His best finish on a road/street course is 8th (GP if Indy) and a best start of 8th (Detroit Race 1)
  • Coletti, 26, is third generation Monegasque, who still resides in Monaco, Monaco.

FIRESTONE 600 – JUNE 5-6, 2015

”I am not a believer in momentum, but obviously we are coming off a fantastic win in Detroit so we’re looking forward to a good race on the oval at Texas Motor Speedway. It has been kind of a trying effort for me there the last couple of years after a great International Race of Champions (IROC) race in 2005. I think the Hydroxycut KVSH team is heading in the right direction on ovals. We have made some progress and understanding the car better. Hopefully all the hard work will pay off and we can shoot some guns in victory circle.

That report was made public Monday afternoon, and it’s loaded with an absence of surprises, although there are a few bits of weirdness involved. • Here’s who won the race between Formula 1 and IndyCar in Long Beach
In October last year the city released a request for proposals seeking “an open-wheel auto racing format” to run the annual Grand Prix event. From the start it was only a two-horse race between Michaelian and Pook. Pook, of course, was hardly a carpetbagger. He founded the Long Beach Grand Prix in 1975 and brought […]
