Firestone Racing Pre-Race Notes: Milwaukee Mile

Pre-Race Notes:

Snap-On Makers and Fixers 250 & Snap-On Milwaukee Mile 250

West Allis, Wisconsin| August 29-30, 2026

INDYCAR returns to the legendary Milwaukee Mile for the penultimate race weekend of the season, featuring an NTT INDYCAR SERIES doubleheader and a single INDY NXT by Firestone race. Located on the Wisconsin State Fair Park grounds in West Allis, the Milwaukee Mile opened in 1903 and is recognized as the oldest operating motor speedway in the world. With just nine degrees of banking in each corner, the one-mile oval presents a unique challenge with long straights and tight corners that create multiple overtaking opportunities. Tire management, passing and race strategy will be critical as the championship battles enter their final two weekends.

NTT INDYCAR SERIES

Firestone will provide more than 1400 Firehawk race tires to 25 NTT INDYCAR SERIES entries for practice, qualifying, and both Saturday and Sunday’s 250-lap races on the 1.015-mile oval.

Each entry will have the following Firestone Firehawk race tire allocation:

  • 14 sets per entry

Notes from Cara Krstolic, Chief Engineer and Director of Race Tire Engineering and Production:

The Firestone Firehawk race tire for this year’s oval doubleheader at the Milwaukee Mile has the same short oval specifications, construction, and compounds as we had last year and at the team test here in June. The left-side tires are the same as those we provided for the Phoenix and St. Louis races.

INDY NXT by Firestone

Firestone will provide more than 300 race tires to 24 INDY NXT by Firestone entries for practice, qualifying, and the 90-lap (90-mile or 55-minute) race on Sunday morning.

Each entry will receive the following Firestone Firehawk race tire allocation:

  • 3 sets per entry (One carryover set from the Milwaukee Open test in June may be used in practice.)
