Shuttle service offers convenient route to IMS on Race Day

INDIANAPOLIS, Thursday, April 21, 2016 — Fans looking for a hassle-free trip to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Race Day can take advantage of expanded shuttle service ahead of the 100th Running of the Indy 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil. In partnership with IMS, The Free Enterprise System and Star of America will offer streamlined shuttle rides to the track from four locations on May 29.

“This year’s Race Day is shaping up to be one of the largest crowds we’ve experienced in many years and it is going to include lots of fan activities from early in the morning through the post-race victory lap,” said Indianapolis Motor Speedway President J. Douglas Boles. “With SportsCenter on site, the energy of just being in the Pagoda Plaza and enjoying the Midway activities and so much more, we’re encouraging fans to come earlier than usual to enjoy the whole Race Day experience. The Free Enterprise service is a great way to come focus on just enjoying the event and to ensure your trip to the Speedway sets you up for a full day of fun.”

The service will begin at 6 a.m. on Race Day and offer rides to the Speedway until 12:30 p.m. All shuttles will receive bus passes used to offer expedited travel. Return routes will be offered until two hours after the conclusion of the 100th Running.

To use the service, fans simply need to purchase a ticket for a specific location point and arrive within the 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. travel window. The price is $29 roundtrip per person with pickups offered at the following locations:

  • PINK ROUTE: The Free Enterprise System Building, 1220 S. West Street, Indianapolis, IN 46225 (downtown at the corner of West & Morris Streets).
  • BLACK ROUTE: IUPUI Downtown Campus – Lot 73 & 92 (downtown at the corner of Michigan and California Streets)
  • PURPLE ROUTE: The Hampton Inn Downtown, 105 S. Meridian Street, Indianapolis, IN 46225.
  • BLUE ROUTE: Indianapolis International Airport, Ground Transportation Lobby (Zone 1), 7800 Col. H. Weir Cook Memorial Dr, Indianapolis, IN 46241.

A premium service, available for $45, will also allow fans to purchase tickets for a specifically designated time. This upgrade will guarantee a seat with designated premium boarding areas to cut out waiting in line before or after the race.

All shuttles will drop-off at IMS across from the main tunnel entrance in the Main Gate east parking lot at 16th and Polco Streets. Return service will begin from the same location.
