Formed in 1981, Morris Day and the Time rose to superstardom in the mid 1980s and early 90s when Day played alongside Prince in the films Purple Rain and Graffiti Bridge. After early success with such hits as “Cool,” “Walk” and “777-9311,” the Time began to gain popularity with Day’s charisma and swagger leading the way. In 1984 the group released the album Ice Cream Castle featuring some of its most successful singles as “Jungle Love” and “The Bird,” became hits on both urban and pop radio.  In 1990, after a brief break up, The Time reunited and produced their first No. 1 R&B hit “Jerk Out” from their fourth album, Pandemonium. Always a popular draw whenever they play in the Motor City, Morris Day and the Time will return the first weekend in June to help Detroit start its summer right at the Grand Prix.
