DETROIT (August 19, 2015) – After a two-week hiatus the Team Chevy in the Verizon IndyCar Series returns to action this weekend at Pocono Raceway, the 15^th race of the 2015 season.  The 2.5-mile track has been nicked named the ‘Tricky Triangle’ for its unique three-turn shape and super-fast straightaways.

Point’s leader and Chevrolet Aero Kit with fully integrated V6 2.2-liter, twin turbocharged, directed injected E-85 engine driver Juan Pablo Montoya is the defending race winner at Pocono Raceway.  Last season Montoya returned to Verizon IndyCar Series competition with Team Penske after successful stints in both F1 and NASCAR. Pocono marked his first victory in his return to the U.S. open wheel ranks.

This year Montoya won the season-opener at St. Petersburg and has taken Chevrolet to victory lane three times, including winning Indy 500. He has been atop the point standings since the leaving Victory Lane at St. Petersburg, and currently holds a nine-point lead with two races remaining.

“We know that we can go to Pocono and win the race,” said Montoya.  “It’s going to be very special to go back there as the defending winner and to the place where we were able to validate Roger’s (Penske) belief that I could come back over to the Verizon IndyCar Series and win after being away for so long.”

The 200-lap/500-mile race will be the last of six oval races in 2015. Team Chevy drivers have won three of the five previous oval races this season.  Montoya took home top honors at the 99^th Indianapolis 500, while Scott Dixon earned the victory at Texas Motor Speedway.  Sebastien Bourdais is the most recent Chevrolet driver to visit Victory Lane earning his second win of the season at The Milwaukee Mile.

“The final two races of the 2015 Verizon IndyCar Series have queued up potentially the best demonstration of the scope of American open-wheel racing,” said Chris Berube, Chevrolet Racing Program Manager for Verizon IndyCar Series. “From the three distinct high-speed turns at Pocono’s tri-oval this weekend to the acceleration, deceleration and elevation change of Sonoma the following weekend, these two venues are as different as they are distant and they will determine who will be called champion.  Team Chevy is prepared and ready to bring every bit of the resources, experience and focus we have to these two events, one at a time, to achieve our goals.”

The Chevy IndyCar Racing Tour display will be open at Pocono Raceway starting at 8:30 a.m. Saturday andSaturday at 8 a.m.  An impressive lineup of Chevrolet production vehicles will be on-hand including: 2016 Corvette Stingray, 2016 Malibu, Equinox, 2015 Motor Trend Truck of the Year Chevrolet Colorado with accessories, Impalamidnight edition and Silverado midnight edition as well as, the Chevrolet IndyCar show car and a track ready Chevrolet Camaro.
