Top-5 Finish for Kyle Kaiser at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway

Indianapolis, IN (May 23, 2015) – Entering into the second half of the 2015 season, the Indy Lights Championship Presented by Cooper Tires returned to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for Round 8 this past Friday on the famous 2.5 mile oval. Juncos Racing’s Kyle Kaiser recorded a Top-5 finish taking fifth in the Freedom 100 Presented by Allied Building Products.

The week at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway began with testing, followed by practice, and qualifying for the 100 mile race. Rookie Kyle Kaiser (Santa Clara, California) qualified sixth in his #18 InterVision /NetApp /JuniperNetworks Mazda powered Dallara IL-15. Teammate and fellow rookie Spencer Pigot (Orlando, Florida) driving the #12 MAZDASPEED scholarship car, qualified 10th.

Kaiser had an impressive start to the 40 lap racing moving up to third, but dropped two positions to settle for a fifth place finish.

“This weekend was a great learning experience for myself and the team,” said Kaiser. “The lessons and experienced gained from driving at IMS (Indianapolis Motor Speedway) will be invaluable moving forward in my career. I’m happy to bring home a Top-5 finish for my first time on the speedway, and we can improve on the remaining two ovals this year. Now my focus will be on Toronto in a few weeks. We have a really strong street course package and I personally love driving on the street courses.”

Pigot struggled to find speed throughout the week on the first oval of the season, finished ninth and remains third in the championship standings.

“The race didn’t go as we had hoped but we learned a lot this week and it was still a great experience to race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway,” said Pigot. “I want to thank all the Juncos Racing guys for all their hard work and all of my supporters Mazda, Mockett, Rising Star Racing, Stutz, MOBĒ, BAD, California Scents and D-A Lubricant. I’m looking forward to the next race in Toronto.”

Juncos Racing Team Owner, Ricardo Juncos, is confident the team will build on the experience gained this past week at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and carry into their efforts at the remaining two ovals this season.

“Even though we did not get the results we hoped for I am still pleased with the efforts put forth this weekend to take home a Top-5 finish,” said Juncos. “We have a lot of work to do on our oval package, but I am confident through this team’s dedication we will only improve as we head into the two remaining ovals this season. We are looking forward to being back on a street course here in a few weeks at Toronto, where we have proven to be successful this year.”
