SHELBY BLACKSTOCK
NO. 51 STARSTRUCK MAZDA

  • Mazda Road to Indy Veteran completed a total of 48 laps on the 2.439-mile circuit for two sessions of practice today with a best speed of 113.204mph

“I’m not sure what to say as we have been struggling all day. We can’t really find the pace and it seems like we are making four steps backward instead of forward, so we are going to work hard to find the missing piece. Hopefully tomorrow will be that step forward we’ve been looking for.”

WEIRON TAN
NO. 22 WEIRON TAN
ANDRETTI AUTOSPORT MAZDA

  • Malaysian racer started on pole for today’s makeup race from the canceled Grand Prix of Louisiana Race Two
  • Captured his second win of the season for his Indianapolis Motor Speedway racing debut that saw him lead all 15 laps

“A big thank you to Andretti Autosport – the team did a great job today. Also thank you to Mazda and Cooper Tires, it was one hell of a race. (The yellow caution period) might have helped us a bit, but I think if it had stayed green, I would have done my best to defend our leading position. Our pace isn’t very good at the moment, but we’ll definitely work hard fortomorrow!”

DALTON KELLETT
NO. 28 K-LINE INSULATORS USA, INC.
ANDRETTI AUTOSPORT MAZDA

  • Series sophomore captured a P11 finish for today’s 15-lap race on the 14-turn circuit after a loss of power occurred during the start and the Canadian fought to capture lost positions

“Today’s race was a bit frustrating… right off the start I had an issue where we were down on power going into the first corner which caused me to lose quite a few spots going down the front straightaway. After the yellow (caution period) caused by the incident in Turn 1, I was able to make back some spots that I lost, however, most of the race was spent defending and trying to climb back up the field. The focus for tomorrow will be to get a good qualifying session and put the No. 28 K-Line Insulators USA Mazda at the front of the field.”
