Cooper Tires Winterfest – Barber Motorsports Park update #3

I’ve been Barber Motorsports Park (Barber) at least half of a dozen times, and each and every trip I’m equally impressed at how beautiful the facility is.  They are also continually making improvements and additions.  As part of a $4 million expansion of the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum, they are building a bridge from the back of the museum to the infield inside of the Turn 8 and Turn 9 area.  The structure will include viewing decks on both sides of the bridge and also garden seating on the museum side of the track.

At 10am the 16 Cooper Tires USF2000 powered by Mazda drivers hit the damp but drying 2.3 mile, 17-Turn road course at Barber Motorsports Park for morning warm-up.

After five minutes, the session went red when James Dayson nosed his No. 16 ArmsUp Motorsports machine into the barriers at Turn 13.  Dayson got out on his own, but the front of the car suffered moderate damage.  The car was brought back to the pits and the track went back to green for warm-up.

The John Cummiskey Racing duo of Jordan Lloyd and Anthony Martin led the way, and were followed by Aaron Telitz, Nico Jamin and Jake Eidson.

Pro Mazda presented by Cooper Tire practice started their practice session promptly at 10:30am.

The session went green for the entire time and the top five times were set by: Weiron Tan, Florian Latorre, Jack Aitken, Raoul Owens and Alessandro Latif.

All cars were in both series were out on slicks.

The first USF2000 race of the day is up next at 11:15am, and will be followed at 12:15pm by the first Pro Mazda race of the day.
