MasterCraft and Panther Racing Renew Cross-Promotion Friday at the Brickyard

Indianapolis, Ind. --- When they first teamed up last year, the arrangement between MasterCraft Boats and the Indy Racing League's Panther Racing team seemed to be a mismatch made in motor heaven. But with a year under their collective belts, there was no question the partnership was destined to continue. That relationship begins anew tomorrow with a special ceremony on the hallowed grounds of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, as Panther driver Tomas Scheckter will be awarded his 2005 MasterCraft in a ceremony Friday morning at 8 a.m.

In addition, MasterCraft will also be presenting a boat to 2003 IndyCar Series Champion Scott Dixon on Friday morning. The official presentation of the boats to Scheckter and Dixon will take place near the infield lake at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

"We are so thrilled to be partnering with one of the finest groups of people in motorsports," says Rob May, MasterCraft's director of marketing. "Panther's dedication to their products, their fans, and their sport is very parallel to what we do every day at MasterCraft. When we first considered the IRL and its rich demographic a cross-promotional opportunity for our boats, Panther -- and its deep roots with GM and Chevrolet -- was the obvious choice."

MasterCraft has incorporated Panther into almost all levels of its marketing, including its extensive print and web-based properties, along with integrating the team into its retail distribution network for various promotions which leverage Panther sponsors. Likewise, MasterCraft has been featured prominently on Panther cars, on its website (www.pantherracing.com), and is a part of its ongoing Fan Tour promotion. Both groups have received incremental exposure in boating and racing publications throughout the world.

"We cherish the MasterCraft relationship, not only because we share the same great GM powertrain, but because they have the same passion for their sports and fans as we do," says Panther co-owner John Barnes. "They've helped us create a whole new legion of race fans, along with some incredible marketing synergy that has been beneficial for both of us."

As for Scheckter, he'll leave all the marketing ROI to the other guys and just have fun in or behind the MasterCraft. "I've been on a lot of boats," says the 2002 Indy 500 Co-Rookie of the Year, "and the quality of MasterCraft is very impressive. I'm glad to be driving the best boat – it has great speed, great handling and great sound."

MasterCraft strives to deliver consumers the ultimate water sports experience by designing and building the world's highest quality, best performing sports luxury boats in every significant inboard niche. Tours of MasterCraft's world headquarters in Vonore, Tennessee, are available Monday-Thursday from 2pm to 4pm.
