Wilson Denied Top Finish At Texas

FORT WORTH, Texas (June 8, 2013) - Starting from the 20th spot on the grid in Saturday night's Firestone 550 IZOD IndyCar Series race at Texas Motor Speedway, Justin Wilson No. 19 Boy Scouts of America car was able to quickly move up through the field. He was running as high as second place until the halfway point of the race.

That's when on his second to last pit stop, his tires went off sooner than expected and that ended up costing the defending Firestone 550 race winner dearly by putting him two laps down. He was able to gain a few positions back on his last stint in the race, but had to settle for a 15th-place finish on the night.

"That second to last stint cost us a good finish tonight," said Wilson. "It's disappointing because the No. 19 Boy Scouts of America Honda was running in the top five up to that point and we had a very good chance at repeating as race winners. The team didn't an incredible job giving me a really competitive race car tonight."

Wilson now sits in eighth place overall in the IZOD IndyCar Point Standings.

Pippa Mann's day ended sooner than she would have liked. On lap two, her engine failed and she had to stop on the track to allow the safety crew to extinguish the fire that started.

"I feel bad that we couldn't have had a better showing for the No. 18 Cyclops Gears Honda tonight," said Mann. "I would like to thank Cyclops Gears and Dale Coyne Racing for giving me a chance to race here at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend."

The IndyCar Series next heads to Milwaukee for the Milwaukee IndyFest and can be seen live on the NBC Sports Network on Saturday, June 15 at 4:00 p.m. (EDT)
