Chevrolet IndyCar V-6 Teams Ready for Second Oval Race of 2013 IZOD IndyCar Season
Texas Motor Speedway Next on Schedule
DETROIT – (June 5, 2013) – Next up for the Chevrolet IndyCar V6 teams and drivers is the Firestone 550 on the 1.5-mile Texas Motor Speedway (TMS), the first in a four-race series on oval tracks (TMS, Milwaukee, Iowa, Pocono) for the IZOD IndyCar Series.

The Chevrolet contingent heads into this weekend's 228-lap/324-mile/550 kilometer race with confidence after Team Chevy driver Tony Kanaan took home the victory in the first oval race of the season winning this year's Indianapolis 500, and seven of the top-10 finishers were powered by the Chevrolet 2.2 liter V6 engine. However, unlike the virtually flat Indianapolis Motor Speedway, TMS is a 24-degree banked tri-oval and will offer unique challenges in car preparation for the teams. In addition, racing at night under the lights changes the dynamics of getting the balance of maximum performance and durability for the long race.

"We are looking forward to powering our Team Chevy posse at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend after leaving the Detroit Belle Isle GP leading the Manufacturers points, and with three Chevy drivers at the top of the Driver's points tally," said Chris Berube, Chevrolet Racing Program Manager for the IZOD IndyCar Series.

"The 2013 season has so far shown significant depth of talent and diversity of winners. Chevrolet and our technical partners are focused on providing the best power, reliability and support to our Team Chevy drivers and teams to put them in a position to recapture the podium."

Three current Team Chevy drivers have TMS victories on their resumes. Tied for the point's lead with fellow Chevrolet V-6 powered driver Marco Andretti, Helio Castroneves has hoisted the trophy at TMS three-times (2004, 2006 & 2009). 2013 Indianapolis 500 winner Tony Kanaan won the Texas race in 2004 and Will Power wore the Texas-sized cowboy hat in 2011.

Before the green flag drops, the 2014 Corvette Stingray, which paced the Indianapolis 500 and Chevrolet Indy Dual in Detroit races, will take center stage. All of the 12 Chevrolet IndyCar V-6 drivers in the field for Saturday night's race will follow the iconic nameplate on the pace laps prior to the green flag of the eighth race of the season.

For the fans, the Chevy Racing display will provide the opportunity to get up-close to many vehicles from the full Chevrolet line-up including: the all-new 2014 Impala, Malibu, Silverado, Corvette, Camaro, Volt and Traverse. Also on display will be a variety of parts and accessories from Chevrolet Performance customers can get from their local Chevy dealer for their own Chevrolet. Crate engines will be on display, and interactive games will entertain fans of all ages.

Several of the Chevrolet IndyCar stars will make appearances at the Display throughout the race weekend. Fans should visit the Display for the driver line-up and times. The display will be open Friday from 11 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The Firestone 550 is scheduled to start on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. CT (8:30 p.m. ET) with live television coverage on ABC.

Live radio coverage will be on XM Radio Channel 94 and Sirius Satellite Radio Channel 212.

In addition, IndyCar live timing and scoring with the radio broadcast can be found at Fans can follow Team Chevy on Team Chevy Facebook, @TeamChevy on Twitter and on Google+.

HELIO CASTRONEVES, NO. 3 AAA INSURANCE TEAM PENSKE CHEVROLET, TIED FOR THE POINTS LEAD WITH MARCO ANDRETTI: "It feels great to be back on top of the points and I know the guys are working hard to switch the AAA Chevrolet from a road course to oval set up. We have had good races at Texas before and I know our plan is to stay consistent with what we have been doing all year. The racing last year at Texas was really fun with the new set up and we are expecting more of the same this year."

MARCO ANDRETTI, NO. 25 RC COLA ANDRETTI AUTOSPORT CHEVROLET, TIED FOR THE POINTS LEAD WITH HELIO CASTRONEVES:"I feel very strong heading into Texas -- we need to start winning some races and I think this would be as good a place as any to start. We're tied for the points lead, and Ryan (Hunter-Reay) is right on my heels... we've gotta' stay ahead of him! Starting now and over the next few races I want to try and stay consistent, break the (points) tie and extend the lead. It's a home race for RC Cola and Dr Pepper so I'd really like to win it for them as well."

RYAN HUNTER-REAY, NO 1 DHL ANDRETTI AUTOSPORT CHEVROLET, 3rd IN STANDINGS (ONE 2013 WIN): "Excited to be heading to Texas for what is always a high intensity, action packed race. This is a home race for our partners at Sun Drop, so we are looking forward to our annual visit to the Dr Pepper Snapple Group headquarters. We were sidelined with mechanical issues last year early in the race, but Marco (Andretti) and James (Hinchcliffe) had pretty good cars so I'm optimistic for Saturday night. The DHL Chevy is four spots higher in the championship standings than we were at this time last year, so we're right in the title fight."

TONY KANAAN, NO. 11 SUNOCO TURBO KV RACING TECHNOLOGY - SH RACING CHEVROLET, 8th IN STANDINGS (ONE 2013 WIN): "I am very proud and happy thatSunoco will be my primary sponsor for four upcoming races – Texas, Iowa, Pocono and Mid-Ohio. Sunoco has a long heritage in Indy car racing beginning in the late 1960s and are a proven winner. I look forward to my association with them and hopefully getting them to victory."

JAMES HINCHCLIFFE, NO. 27 GODADDY ANDRETTI AUTOSPORT CHEVROLET, 9th IN STANDINGS (TWO 2013 WINS): "We took a small points hit after Detroit and are looking to get the GoDaddy Chevy back up front. We had a decent run at TMS last year so hoping we can do it again; maybe finish a couple spots higher and catch up to Marco (Andretti) and Ryan (Hunter-Reay) in points."

"Very excited on heading back to a super speedway. Texas is a place that I've always liked and I've always been fast. Understanding the performance that we had at Indianapolis is a good sign that we are going to have a good weekend. Texas is a super intense and fast oval where concentration is definitely needed. With the amount of banking and the close racing that is going to be happening, it's going to be extremely fun."

WILL POWER, NO. 12 VERIZON TEAM PENSKE CHEVROLET, 16th IN STANDINGS:"The racing at Texas last year was tremendous, they really did a great job with the set up and it was the best racing I've had on an oval. The Verizon Chevrolet was as good as any that day and we really had a shot to win the race. I feel that the Verizon team is now really starting to hit its stride, we may not have the results to show it yet but we've had some great cars. Our focus is to go all out this weekend at Texas and continue to fight our way up the points standings."

SIMONA DE SILVESTRO, NO. 78 NUCLEAR ENTERGY AREVA KV RACING TECHNOLOGY CHEVROLET, 17th IN STANDINGS: "I'm really looking forward to going to Texas this weekend. The Nuclear Clean Air Energy car was ok in Detroit, but I think it will definitely be better for Texas. I'm pretty sure we can be competitive, especially with how well the team did at Indy. Texas is different, but I think we can take our success at Indy, make some adjustments and have a really good race there. Texas was one of the first tracks where I was able to test when I was new with Chevy and I learned a lot that I think we can use going into this weekend. Hopefully we can bring Chevy back-to-back oval wins."

"I'm very excited to go back to Texas. I had a good car there in the race last year. We came from 18th to second and then we had one bad stop that took us out of it. Texas is always a fun place to race. We put on a great show last year. I feel that our car should be better there this year. When we tested there earlier this year, it was pretty cool. It will be another ball game with the hotter temperature and the lighter downforce levels. I feel that the Fuzzy's Vodka Chevy should have a shot for the win. The night races at Texas are always awesome. To be able to showcase our racing there on ABC-TV and under lights should be a super show for everyone watching either in person or on television."

ORIOL SERVIA, NO. 4 NATIONAL GUARD PANTHER RACING CHEVROLET: "I couldn't be more excited about this opportunity firstly, it's a job, but it's with a team that I've been working with very closely with for the last year. Not only do I know everybody that works there, but I know the potential for the National Guard car and the performance we've had will give us a chance to win. But I'm especially honored because representing the National Guard is so much more special than any other sponsor, and I'm excited to be a part of everything that partnership involves with the team. I'm very thankful for the opportunity that Mr. Barnes has given me to continue this season with Panther and in the Chevy family. I hope this relationship extends for many races and many seasons, but right now I just want to do the best job I can and hopefully we'll have a great result."
