Helio Castroneves celebrates in victory lane

Well, so much for the IndyCar points race being completely over, huh?

With his win, Helio Castroneves made up 35 points over Scott Dixon. Dixon's lead is now 43 over Helio Castroneves - the exact maximum he can make up on Dixon in one race.

Is that still a big lead? Sure. But it's not insurmountable, and a race very much like this one could take place at Belle Isle - where passing is harder than it is here. If Dixon loses 35 points again, well, it's on at Chicagoland. Castroneves was so happy he went into the stands after the win due the lack of a fence to climb.

Why Subscribe to TrackSide Online?

Focused:
We don't cover every series out there - we focus on the IndyCar Series, and have done so since the IRL's inception in 1996. We have multiple staff members at every IRL event - open tests, the Firestone Indy Lights, every day of action at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, even the event at Twin Ring Motegi. We're in the garages and at the press conferences finding out tomorrow's news today. Maybe that's why car owners, drivers, IRL management, and members of the radio and television broadcast teams all subscribe to TSO.

More Than News:
Not only do we cover the news, but we try to make you feel like you're at the event yourself. TSO has photographers at each event taking photos of the action on the track, in the garages, and behind the scenes.
