Welcome to Raceday at Richmond

Welcome to a muggy 95 degree Richmond International Raceway. We have some clouds rolling in to the area, and the forecast calls for some scattered showers - much like yesterday.
The rain yesterday did not interrupt much of the schedule and did cut the edge off the heat last night, so if that happened again, and we could still start the race on time, probably wouldn't be too many people complaining.
There is a lot of talk in the garage area about Darren Manning and AJ Foyt Racing. We have heard nothing definitive, but when Larry Foyt was given the chance yesterday to say, "Darren will be our driver for the rest of the season." He instead told the radio coverage of practice something to the effect of "We really like Darren," and "we can't be parking race cars."
The team also struggled yesterday in practice though they got a little better in qualifying.
Bottom line is that Darren appears to be on the hot seat, and tonight's race will be watched very closely from Houston (where AJ is - he is not here).
We have not heard for sure, but we expect Roger Penske to be here tonight for the race. Roger missed last week's race as he recuperated from a medical procedure, only the third race he has missed in his history as an open wheel team owner. The previous missed races were for his wedding and the 9-11 tragedy.
And with that, here is today's schedule:
5:15pm James River Grounds 100 for the USAC Silver Crown Series (75 laps) - streaming on Indy500.com
8:00pm Suntrust Indy Challenge (300laps - 225miles)
