Vitor Meira is the first to turn a lap in an IndyCar at Daytona.

Testing has concluded at Daytona International Speedway to rave reviews from the drivers in attendance. The talk of this test being anything less than to see if this is a potential race venue were quickly dispatched and the drivers talked about how great it would be for IndyCars to compete at this facility.

In addition to the comments made by Sam Hornish that were reported earlier, the other drivers chimed in as well:

Dan Wheldon went on at length about the history of the track and what it means to be here. He said everyone on the team wants to see this happen sooner rather than later. As someone that raced here under the lights, he didn't see any reason a night race wouldn't work here. He also spent some time comparing Indy and Daytona noting that the cars or the specific course didn't matter as much as the fans that these places attract.
