Road America Makes Blind Horse Winery an Official Partner
THE BLIND HORSE WINERY NAMED OFFICIAL WINE OF ROAD AMERICA THROUGH NEW PARTNERSHIP
ELKHART LAKE, Wis., April 6, 2016 – Road America today announced that The Blind Horse Winery has become a partner and official wine provider for the facility. The Blind Horse wines, produced from Napa Valley grapes in nearby Kohler, Wisconsin, will be the preferred wines sold and poured at America’s National Park of Speed. Along with over 420 events held seasonally at the 640-acre facility, nine major weekends are open to the public, which include the Verizon IndyCar Series and Pirelli World Challenge, the MotoAmerica Superbike series, three vintage racing events, numerous Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) events, the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, and the NASCAR XFINITY Series which will help present The Blind Horse Winery’s numerous award winning wines to race fans visiting the world renowned facility.
As a partner, Blind Horse wines will become the “Official Wine of Road America” and where its wines are concerned, Blind Horse wines will be served at Road America’s catering, concessions and merchandising locations and by other facility concessionaires, including all luxury suites. In addition, The Blind Horse Winery will leverage other marketing opportunities to create a variety of programs to benefit racing fans at the track. Additionally, The Blind Horse will also receive branding in the form of trackside and other signage and will be able to communicate with Road America’s fans inviting them to become members of the company’s wine club as well as providing special offers on a seasonal basis.

About The Blind Horse Winery: In September of 1862 a young man named Anton Dreps and his wife Josephine bought the 80-acre farm that the restaurant and winery now occupies. Many of the rooms in the restaurant and winery still contain the original 130-year-old hand hewn log beams used to support the floors.
In 1891 the farm expanded to include what is now the Pine Hills Country Club and Golf Course. Like most farmers of that era, teams of horses were used to farm the land. One of the known workhorses was called ‘Birdy’, a blind horse. After finding this information in the Sheboygan county historical archives, we felt compelled to name the restaurant and winery The Blind Horse.
The Blind Horse Restaurant and Winery launched Wisconsin’s first food and wine destination by pairing gourmet food with elegant wines. The restaurant opened in June of 2012 and the winery opened two years later on April 24, 2014. The winemaking style implores a minimalist approach combined with the latest technology to produce world-class wines.
