Brickyard Vintage Racing Invitational returning to IMS on June 15-19, 2016

INDIANAPOLIS, Monday, Oct. 19, 2015 – The SVRA will again bring its Brickyard Invitational with its popular Indy Legends Charity Pro-Am to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on June 15-19, 2016, which includes Father’s Day weekend. The Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) today announced a 16-race weekend schedule for 2016 allowing race teams to plan well ahead for next year.

“One of the reasons the Indianapolis Motor Speedway has such a special place in the hearts of racing fans is its rich 100-plus years of history. The SVRA Brickyard Invitational celebrates IMS and racing history by putting cars across all those decades on track, at speed, and in competition. Combined with former Indianapolis 500 champions and veterans competing in the event as well, it is truly a remarkable weekend,” said IMS President J. Douglas Boles.

The 2016 SVRA schedule also includes some of the greatest and most historic road courses in the United States such as Watkins Glen, Road America, Circuit of the Americas (COTA), Sebring, Auto Club Speedway, Sonoma Raceway, Mid-Ohio, Portland International Raceway and Virginia International Raceway (VIR) among others.

“I think we are unique as a growth sector in the motorsports industry,” said SVRA President and CEO Tony Parella. “We have come a long way in the short time since rebooting our organization three years ago. Each of our events has their own culture but the formula we see working is creating high activity, multi-faceted festival-style shows that give fans including the entire family so many things to enjoy and share through social media on our weekends.”
