COOPER TIRES GRAND PRIX OF TORONTO RACE TWO REPORT

SHELBY BLACKSTOCK
NO. 51 STARSTRUCK MAZDA

  • After capturing a fourth-place finish* for Saturday’s Race One, the Nashville, TN native came home in the sixth position for today’s wet 30-lap race after rolling off the grid from seventh

*The No. 4 car was disqualified after failing post-race technical inspection moving Shelby from fifth to fourth place

“Well the second race of the weekend was probably my least favorite of my career. Today was all about just surviving. The car does not actually have a rain map… Unfortunately we tagged the wall mid-race, but we finished sixth which is a lot better than I thought we did (haha). Overall a good weekend – we learned a lot – and a huge thanks to the Andretti Autosport team.”

WEIRON TAN
NO. 22 WEIRON TAN
ANDRETTI AUTOSPORT MAZDA

  • 20-year-old started Race Two from the third position after the Andretti Autosport team worked into the night to repair the Mazda-powered machine following yesterday’s Race One incident
  • Coming to the twin checkers in second place, the Kuala Lumpur-born racer captured his fifth podium of the 2015 season at the temporary street circuit in Toronto

“It feels great to grab a podium finish today – a big thank you to the team. Yesterday was really unfortunate… I don’t think anyone could have saved that (the car from being collected in the Lap 1 incident). The Andretti Autosport guys worked all night to fix the car and have it ready for today, so at least we scored some really good points. It’s not a loss today – I mean, good job to the team. I really want to thank them for doing a great job – it’s all them. Today I was just bringing the car back home.”

DALTON KELLETT

ANDRETTI AUTOSPORT MAZDA

  • The Canadian racer’s No. 28 Mazda was withdrawn from the lineup for today’s Race Two after the 21-year-old’s symptoms following yesterday’s Race One incident worsened overnight.
