COOPER TIRES GRAND PRIX OF TORONTO PRACTICE REPORT

SHELBY BLACKSTOCK
NO. 51 STARSTRUCK MAZDA

  • Series rookie clocked 17 laps on the 1.755-mile circuit for today’s shortened practice day

“Today’s rain-shortened afternoon practice session definitely didn’t help us since we didn’t get a lot of track time. We’re looking forward to tomorrow’s qualifying run to see what we can do!”

WEIRON TAN
NO. 22 WEIRON TAN
ANDRETTI AUTOSPORT MAZDA

  • Topped the charts on the temporary street circuit in Toronto with a quick time of 1:10.2302 – the Malaysian’s first day at the Canadian track

“Practice Two in Toronto went really well. I had a great feel of the track, finally, when the rain stopped. There were still slight patches of water on the track, but I don’t think that affected us that much. It’s a really fun track, I really enjoy it here, and hopefully we can do really well for qualifying tomorrow and put our Mazda on the front row.”

DALTON KELLETT
NO. 28 K-LINE INSULATORS USA, INC.
ANDRETTI AUTOSPORT MAZDA

  • Hometown hero had a slight touch with the wall in Practice Two which brought him in to replace a lower wishbone and wheel
  • Queen’s University graduate’s fastest time of the day (with a bent upper wishbone) was 1:11.0486

“Practice One went really well after we got right up to speed this morning, and the car felt really solid. In Practice Two we just had an incident on the first lap where I caught a little too much curb in Turn 5, and as a result I hit the wall and bent the lower rear right wishbone. The team did a great job getting the car back on track so I was able to run the rest of the session – a really good team effort to get me back out there. Tomorrow we’re just looking to continue with what we learned from today and have a successful qualifying in the K-Line Insulators Mazda.”
