Indianapolis, IN – May 22, 2015 – Jack Harvey won the Freedom 100 race during “Coors Light Carb Day” at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Friday afternoon. Harvey’s Schmidt Peterson Motorsports teammates Ethan Ringel, RC Enerson and Scott Anderson swept the first four positions, finishing second, third and fourth, respectively.
 
Twenty-two-year-old, British driver Harvey took the lead from teammate Ringel on the end of the front stretch in just the first lap. It would be a back-and-forth battle between the Harvey’s No. 42 Racing Steps Foundation car and the No. 71 FamilyArtPrinting.com car of Ringel.
 
“This is the biggest single race I’ve ever won,” said Harvey. “It’s bound to be a career highlight. It was the one race that I wanted to win all season. As I was going over the line, I had a few tears in my eyes and when I was getting interviewed, my legs were shaking.
 
“I don’t know how to explain winning here twice out of three races and we could’ve had another podium, but especially the Freedom 100. It just means the world and I know it means the world to the crew too. It’s everything I’ve worked for.”
 
Ringel, who started on pole for the 100-mile race around the historic 2.5-mile oval, finished in second place. Ringel’s two-lap qualifying average of 197.684, a track record for the Indy Lights presented by Cooper Tires series.
 
After his qualifying run, Ringel commented, “Going out there I’ve never been so nervous in my whole life. I thought my heart was going to come out of my chest. Honestly, coming into this week I really wasn’t expecting much. I was thinking that I’d be happy with a mid-pack start. To qualify on pole was something that I didn’t think would happen this season.
 
“I’m absolutely stoked about it and looking forward to the race. The car felt as it did all week. I think we’ve always gone forward instead of staying where we are or going backwards, so I think there’s been really good progress and I hope to have a good car in traffic.”
 
The Indy Lights teams will head to Toronto, Ontario on June 13th and 14th for the 9th and 10th races of the 2015 season on the temporary street circuit.
