Andretti Autosport MRTI Race Reports – Saturday Indy GP

GRAND PRIX OF INDIANAPOLIS: RACE REPORT

SHELBY BLACKSTOCK
NO. 51 STARSTRUCK MAZDA

  • Series rookie started from the 11th position for today’s Race Two on the 2.439-mile circuit
  • Was seen as high as P6 and made his way to another top-10 finish coming home in eighth

“Overall, today we made progress with the car. Obviously we aren’t happy with eighth, but definitely made that progress with the car over the weekend… It’s a long road to go, but hopefully we can get a hang on it, and by the end of the season get the Starstruck Mazda into victory lane.”

DALTON KELLETT
NO. 28 K-LINE INSULATORS USA, INC.
ANDRETTI AUTOSPORT MAZDA

  • Started today’s 21-lap race in the 13th position and moved his way forward through the 21-car field to bring home the No. 28 car in the 11th position

“Today’s race was certainly a better performance compared to the first two races of the weekend; we found some pace that we were lacking early on. I think the lesson that we need to take out of the weekend is finding that pace early on is key to securing a good spot in qualifying which is so key in this series given how tight the competition is. Overall, certainly a learning weekend for the K-Line Insulators Mazda, but we’ll finish May off strong at the oval at Lucas Oil Raceway Park.”

WEIRON TAN
NO. 22 WEIRON TAN
ANDRETTI AUTOSPORT MAZDA

  • Rolled off the grid for today’s Race Three from the sixth position but retired early on Lap 1 due to contact which made the No. 22 Mazda undriveable

“Unfortunately for us, our race was over before it really started due to being hit from behind on Lap 1. That contact broke an upright and I just wasn’t able to continue on as the car was no longer driveable. A big thank you to Andretti Autosport for all of their hard work. We will definitely put this weekend behind us as we now focus on the oval coming up at the end of the month.”
